Punctuation and Capitalization -বিরাম চিহ্ন/যতি চিহ্ন
Rule-1: বাক্যের শেষে সাধারণত full stop বসে।
Ex-
mr. anowar is a good doctor
Ans: Mr. Anowar is a good doctor.
i know that he is an honest man
Ans : I know that he is an honest man.
Rule-2: একই জাতীয় বস্তু, প্রাণী, ব্যক্তি,
পদার্থ ইত্যাদি দুইয়ের অধিক বুঝালে, তাদের প্রত্যেকের পরে কমা বসে।
Ex-
Trees give us oxygen shelter wood and medicine
Ans: Trees give us oxygen, shelter, wood and medicine.
rima sima and nodi played well.
Ans: Rima, Sima and Nodi played well.
Rule-3: ১ সেকেন্ডর ও কম বিরতির জন্যে কমা বসে।
Note: Yes, No, well এর পরে কমা বসে।
Ex-
Kamal, come to me.
Well, I will do according to your instructions
Rule-4: Short Quotation and Apposition এর পূর্বে কমা বসে।
Ex-
mr Salauddin an english teacher said honesty is the best policy
Ans: Mr. Salauddin, an English teacher, said, "Honesty is the best policy ".
Rule-5: Connecting words এর পর সাধারণত কমা বসে।
Ex-
so you will fail to succeed finally
Ans: So, you will fail to succeed finally.
however he can join the party.
Ans: However, he can join the party.
Rule-6: দিন তারিখ, বাড়ি-ঘর, চিঠির শেষে কমা বসে।

Rule-7: কাউকে প্রশ্ন করলে বা কিছু জিজ্ঞেস করা হলে বাক্যের শেষে Interrogative চিহ্ন বসে।
চিনিবার উপায়: শুরুতে Wh—- question, To be verb, To have verb, To do verb, Modal থাকলে শেষে প্রশ্নবোধক চিহ্ন বসে।

Ans: What is your father's name?
are you a government officer
Ans: Are you a government officer?
have you any pens
Ans: Have you any pens?
could you help me

Rule-8: বিস্ময় বা আশ্চর্য প্রকাশ করলে Note of Exclamation বসে।
Note: বিস্ময়বোধক ও প্রশ্নবোধকের মাঝে পার্থক্য হলো - Interrogative sentence এ Auxiliary verb আগে বসে। আর Exclamatory sentence এ verb Adjective বা বাক্যের শেষে বসে।

Ans: What a wonderful experience it is!
how exciting game cricket is
Ans: How exciting game cricket is!
Note: এছাড়া Oh!, Wow! Fie!, I see!
Rule-9: I দ্বারা আমি বুঝালে ঐ i সবসময় বড় হাতের হয়।
Ex-
he knows that i am a teacher.
Ans: He knows that I am a teacher.
Rule-10: Allah নাম ১ letter বড় হাতের হয়।
Ex-
only allah helps us. We should pay to him regularly
Ans: Only Allah helps us. We should pay Him regularly.
Rule-11: মানুষের নাম, দেশের নাম, গ্রামের নাম, নদীর নাম, সাগর, মহাসাগরের নাম, বিখ্যাত বইয়ের নাম খবরের কাগজ, দ্বীপের নাম, পাহাড়-পর্বতের নাম, মরুভূমির নাম, জাহাজ, বিমান, বড় বড় অট্রালিকা বা ভবন ইত্যাদি নামের first letter, capital letter হয়।

Ans: Mamun is a student.
we love bangladesh
Ans: We love Bangladesh.
zahir raihan was born in majipur, feni.
Ans: Zahir Raihan was born in Majipur, Feni.
Rule-12: দিন, তারিখ, মাস, দিকের নামের ১ ম letter বড় হাতের হয়।
Ex-
January, Sunday, May Day, East, West, North, South
Rule-13: কোন বাক্যে say-said, ask-asked, reply-replied, muttered, cried, কবিতার পঙক্তি, কারো উক্তি ক্ষেত্রে double Inverted comma বসে।
Ex-
mother said have you prepared your homework.
Ans: Mother said," Have you prepared your homework?"
Rule-14: শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানের নাম, বিষয়ের নাম, ভাষার নাম এর প্রথম অক্ষর বড় হাতের হয়।
Ex-
I like to speak English.
Habiba works at Dhanmondi High School.
Rule-15: Verb কে সংক্ষিপ্ত করার জন্যে সাধারণত Apostrophe বসে।
Ex-
Whats your father name.
Ans: What's your father's name?
ill go to dhaka tomorrow.
Ans: I'll go to Dhaka Tomorrow.
Note: Rules গুলো শুধু ক্লাস ৬-১২ পর্যন্ত এবং পরীক্ষার আলোকে তৈরী।
