Tag Question  

1. I have done the work, haven’t I?

2. They are good player, aren’t they?

3. Fishes can not fly, can they?

4. Bird can fly in the sky, can't it? 

Rule-1: বাক্যটি হ্যাঁ বোধক হলে Tag question এর উত্তরটি না বোধক হবে। 

Ex-  

1.  Mr. Anwar is a social worker, isn’t he?

2. I have a pen, haven’t I?

Rule-2: বাক্যটি নাবোধক(Negative)  হলে Tag Question এর Ans টি হ্যাঁবোধক(affirmative) হবে। 

 Ex-

1.  I am not a social worker, am  I? 

2. My mother has a nice cat, hasn’t she?

Rule-3: সাহায্যকারী  verb থাকলে, সাহায্যকারি verb এর সাথে n't বসে। 

Ex-  

1. Akib is an introvert student, isn’t he?

2. There are some boys talking in the class, aren’t there? 

Rule-4:  সাহায্যকারী verb না থাকলে Tense, person ও number অনুযায়ী don’t, doesn’t,didn’t ,do/does/did বসে। 

Note: Present Indefinite Tense হলে Don't or Doesn’t বসে এবং Past Tense হলে Didn’t বসে। Present tense এ Sub third person singular হলে doesn’t. 

Ex- 

1. Mahmudul gives an excellent voice in my video, doesn’t he?

2. Habib read the book long time ago, didn’t he?

3. I finished the work in time, didn’t I? 

Rule-5: Everything, something, anything, nothing, thing, ইত্যাদি sub হিসেবে থাকলে উত্তরে sub এ It বসে। 

Ex-

1. Nothing is centained, is it?

2. Something is happening, isn’t it? 

Rule-6: Everybody, Everyone, Somebody, someone, anybody, anyone, nobody, No one, None, ইত্যাদি থাকলে Tag Question Ans এর sub হিসেবে they বসে। 

Ex- 

1. Everybody hates a liar, Don't they? 

2. Nobody companied them, did they? 

Note: Nobody, No one, None  না বোধক। 

Rule-7: Sentence টি imperative হলে Tag Question উওরে can't, will you, could you, mayn't you বসে। 

Ex-

1. Shut the door, will you?

2. Please,  give me a glass of water, can you?

Note:   শ্রোতার সম্মতি প্রদান করলে Won't you বসে। 

Ex-  

1. Have a tea, Won't you? 

Rule-8: Don’t দ্বারা imperative sentence শুরু হলে ans এ will you বসে। 

Ex-  

1. Don't tell a lie, will you? 

Rule-9: Let's বা Let us দ্বারা শুরু হলে shall we বসে।

Ex-   

1. Let's try this, shall we? 

Rule-10: Let him, let her, let them, let me ইত্যাদি হলে Tag Question এর উত্তরে will you বসে। 

Ex-  

1. Let me do the sum, will you? 

Rule-11: There, here ইত্যাদি Sub হিসেবে থাকলে Tag Question এর  Sub হিসেবে There, Here বসে।

Ex-  

1. There is a school in the village, isn’t there?

Rule-12: ইতর প্রাণী, জড় পদার্থ, ছোট শিশু ইত্যাদি Sub হলে Tag question এর Sub এ Singular 'It' এবং Plural এ 'they' বসে। 

Ex-    

1. Smoking is injurious to health, isn’t it?

2. Books always give us Company, aren't they?

Rule-13: All of us, some of us, none of us, most of us, any of us ইত্যাদি Sub হিসেবে থাকলে Tag question এর Sub এ We হয়।

Ex- 

1. All of us were busy to maintain the guests, weren't we?

Rule-14: Hardly, Barely, Scarcely, seldom, little, few, nobody, no-one, none, nothing, neither nor ইত্যাদি শব্দ না বোধক তাই এরা থাকলে Tag question এর উত্তর হ্যাঁ বোধক হবে।

Ex- 

1. A barking dog seldom bites, does it? 

2. I have few friends, have I?  

Rule-15: Thank you থাকলে Tag question এ don’t I বসে। 

Ex- 

1. Thank you very much, don't I? 

Rule-16:  The+Adjective  [Rich, poor, industrious, virtuous, idle, lazy]  Verb টি Plural হবে। 

Ex- 

1. The rich are not always happy, are they?

2. The learned man should be respected, shouldn’t they? 

Rule-17: Moon, Ship, country, river ইত্যাদি Sub হিসেবে থাকলে Tag Question এর Sub এ She বসে। 

Ex-

1. The Titanic drowned in her first voyage, didn’t she? 

2. Bangladesh is my motherland,  isn’t she? 

Rule-18: All of you, some of you most of you,none of you ইত্যাদি থাকলে Tag question এর Sub এ You বসে। 

Ex-

1. None of you were present there, were you? 

Rule-19: Tag Question 2 টি Clause বা বাক্যাংশ থাকলে, principal Clause এর Tag question করতে হবে।  তবে অনেক সময় বাক্যের অর্থ প্রদানের উপর নির্ভর করে। 

Ex-

1.  I am not regular in writing but my friend is regular, isn’t he? 

2. I think he will pass the exam, Won't he? / Don't I? 

Rule-20: All of them, some of them, most of them, none of them দ্বারা বাক্য শুরু হলে Tag Question এর Sub  হিসেবে they বসে। 

Ex- 

1. Most of them are poor, aren’t they? 

Rule-21: Sub First person এর সাথে verb -am থাকলে Tag question করতে aren’t বসে। 

Ex-

1. I am punctual, aren’t I? 

Rule-22: একাধিক person And দ্বারা যুক্ত হলে Tag question এই নিয়মে করতে হবে।

You and I= we, You and he= You

You, he and I = we,  I and he= we, I, he and you = we

1. You, he and I went there, didn’t we?
